Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
